Description

The township of Fairlie and surrounding area can be susceptible to flooding from the Upper Opihi River and several of its tributary streams. A flood modelling investigation was carried out in conjunction with DHI to determine the likely extent and severity of flooding that could occur in 50, 200, and 500 year Average Recurrence Interval (ARI) flood events. This story map describes how the modelling was done, and shows the results.
